A long, long time ago, I had an imaginary friend named Dodie. My sisters mocked me because there was no such person as Dodie.

Hmmm. You're too young to remember, unless you saw syndicated reruns, but there was a little girl named Dodie (nickname for Dorothy) in the TV show, "My Three Sons."
